Panasonic hacked: data was stolen
Panasonic reveals to have been hacked, hackers were able to infiltrate its network on November 11.
They were able to collect several data, but the Japanese group which specializes in electronics does not really know what. At least officially.
Hackers target Panasonic
“Panasonic Corporation has confirmed that its network was illegally accessed by a third party on November 11, 2021”, indicated the group.
“Following an internal investigation, it was determined that some data on a file server had been accessed during the intrusion,” the group continues. He has done what is necessary to warn the competent authorities and ensures that he has taken measures to prevent such a scenario from happening again in the future.
In the process, Panasonic announces that it is working with a third-party company to further investigate and determine if there is any personal information of customers in the data. The group concludes by apologizing.
Although the press release does not contain many details on the timeline of the attack, Japanese media, in particular Mainichi and NHK, reported that hackers gained access to Panasonic’s servers between June and November. They could have accessed the personal information of customers and employees until Panasonic spotted the malicious activity on November 11. The company does not confirm at this time.
