Favorite animals in 3D from Google: how and who can you look at?

Outline of the most important innovations Last year at the I / O conference, Google announced that it is starting to add augmented reality objects to search results. Over the past year, many 3D animals have appeared on Google that can be searched and viewed with AR. Today we publish the complete list.

How do I find 3D animals on Google?

AR objects are incredibly easy to access in Google searches. Elements are added to convince users that the easiest way to learn something is to see it. By seeing things in augmented reality, users can see the scale of the object, as well as details that they might not notice in a simple photo.

To facilitate access to virtual animals, Google is hosting its 3D models and other AR objects right at the top of the search. For example, when searching for “ tiger ”, the“ Google Search ”knowledge bar is displayed. These panels are often shown for movies, celebrities, and other subjects. In the case of a three-dimensional animal through Google, you will see an overview of what kind of animal it is, one or more of its images, as well as a section in which the “View in 3D” button is built in, and below the “View at home” button, which launches the mode AR.
If for any reason the View Myself button is missing, please make sure your device has the latest Google Play Services for AR.

What do you need to view AR objects on Google?

Google 3D animals may not be viewed on all devices. Generally, you will not be able to see AR or 3D objects on a desktop or laptop computer. To view these objects, you will need an AR-enabled smartphone. Fortunately, most modern smartphones support this innovation.

So, getting ready to view an object in AR in a Google search, you will need:

  • Android smartphone or tablet: Android 7.0 or higher, with Google Play Store preinstalled (requires the latest version of Google Play Services for AR);
  • iPhone / iPad: iOS 11.0 or higher.

The list of AR-enabled smartphones includes the most popular, including Samsung Galaxy S8 / S9 / S10 / S20, Note 8/9/10, any Google Pixel smartphone and other Android devices from LG, Motorola and other brands. For Apple devices, iPhone 6S, 7, 8, X and 11 are supported, as well as most iPads. If you are not sure if 3D animals and other AR objects in Google search will show on your machine, just try it!
