Cyberpunk 2077: CD Projekt Red pushes the Next Gen version to 2022

CD Projekt Red is definitely accumulating disappointments, and COVID-19 probably can’t explain everything.

Bogged down by the endless patches of Cyberpunk 2077, the Polish studio has not been able to find the necessary resources to develop the next gen version of its futuristic RPG. Finally, the version of Cyberpunk 2077 optimized for the PS5 and Xbox Series will only be available in the first quarter of 2022, more than a year after the release of the game! Will PS5 and Xbox Series players still have the heart to dive back into Night City while the beginning of the year will be extremely busy with new releases (Horizon Forbidden West, Dying Light 2 among others…)? Nothing is less sure…

The same goes for the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is slipping to the second quarter of 2022. Of course, it’s better to have a big delay than an ultra-buzzed game (Cyberpunk 2077 is a good example of this), but the extreme heaviness of a studio that was once known for its ability to deliver on time can become tiresome…
